🌱 Snow Removal Services + Meals For Families + Caitlin Denison

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Reno.

Hey, neighbors! It's me again, Nicole Fallon-Peek, your host of the Reno Daily.

First, today's weather:

Some sun, then clouds; chilly. High: 41 Low: 20.

Here are the top 3 stories in Reno today:

  1. A local lawn company is offering a plan to help people clear snow from their homes. The plan, offered by Cory's Lawn Service, has been beneficial to seniors and retirees in the Somersett and Caughlin Ranch areas, where the lawn service operates during the winter. There are three tiers people can sign up for, with the lowest starting at $97. (KOLO)
  2. A YouTuber has brought renewed attention to the case of missing Reno woman Caitlin Denison. Kendall Rae, whose YouTube channel discusses true crimes and mysteries, helped a fundraiser for Denison, who has been missing for nearly four years, raise more than $11,000 after she talked about it on her channel in Nov. Texas Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $3,000 for any information that leads to an arrest. (Reno Gazette Journal)
  3. The Reno Fire Department donated, built, and delivered meals to over 200 families. Boxes assembled by the firefighters have about $55 worth of food in them and contain enough food to last up to a week. The Reno Fire Department works with places like the Children's Cabinet, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Washoe County School District to identify families who could use a hand. (KOLO)

From my notebook:

  • Travel plans for the Holidays? Active winter weather will return next week and may create substantial travel challenges in the Sierra and possibly even down here in western Nevada Valleys. (Facebook)
  • The Reno Police Department would like to thank Detective Lopez, Detective Daniels, and Brian Vaka for coordinating the 2021 First Responder Basketball Tournament. (Facebook)
  • The Nevada Humane Society has several barn cats, including Perry, Fruity Tootie and Gong, looking to leave shelter life in exchange for a life in a large garden, stable, or barn. (Facebook)
