Survey Shows More Air Travel + Halogen Systems To Save Water

Here are the top stories in Reno today:

  1. A brief survey by the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority indicates more people are again traveling by air. According to the survey, 73 percent of those travelers are fully vaccinated and just about half say they feel safe flying. In addition, 73 percent of those contacted said they would take a leisure trip. (Nevada Appeal)
  2. Halogen Systems is an Incline Village based company that is getting ready to make a move to Reno to expand on their advanced and environmentally friendly chlorine sensors that have advanced into wastewater and drinking water treatment facilities. The company began creating sensors for ballast water in ships to prevent invasive species in water, and after transforming a once singular use sensor into technology that can be used in a variety of water types, their sensors were able to adapt and grow. Sales Executive Michael Travis Silveri explained that the sensors will help save billions of gallons of water per year by eliminating the waste stream. With the Halogen Systems sensor, it's estimated that at least four million gallons of water will be saved through eliminating this tiny stream. (Tahoe Daily Tribune)
  3. Reno's neighborhoods are a lot cleaner after an effort Reno City Councilwoman Naomi Duerr put on Saturday morning. The annual cleanup effort was held at the Summit Mall in South Reno. (KOLO)
  4. The National Guard is continuing to assist at the main hub at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center, where more than 700 boosters have been administered to people who qualified as especially vulnerable because of health conditions. (KRNV My News 4)
  5. Breast Cancer 2 Bikini provides a 24-week fitness and nutrition program to prepare ladies for the the NPC Nevada State Championships. (KTVN)
