Here are the top three stories today in Reno:
- A Colorado teen was arrested at a Reno motel for his involvement in a shooting which took the life of two boys and wounded four others. The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force arrested 19-year-old Kadin Dyer Blaschke at a Motel 6 in Reno on Friday. Blaschke has been charged with two counts of second-degree homicide in connection with the Jan. 9 shooting deaths of the two boys, and is awaiting extradition back to Colorado. (PEOPLE)
- An Immersive van Gogh exhibit will be stopping in Reno at the end of the summer. "Beyond van Gogh," an immersive exhibit where people can walk through projections of more than 300 of van Gogh's masterpieces, will be coming to the Reno Sparks Convention Center from Aug. 19 through Oct. 3. Adult tickets begin at $36.99 and will go on sale Jan. 20. (Reno Gazette Journal)
- The Washoe County School district is asking the public to help name the new elementary school in Southeast Reno. The district is accepting submissions through Jan. 20, and is looking for geographical and geological names, names of distinguished local people or former District employees, and the names of a people who have state or national prominence. Construction on the new school in southeast Reno, near Rio Wrangler Parkway, is expected to begin soon. (KKOH)
