🌱 Temporary I-80 Shutdown At Ralston + Price Law Compliance
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Reno.
Good morning, people of Reno! It's me again, Dominique-Noelle Rafael, your host of the Reno Daily.
First, today's weather:
Breezy in the afternoon. High: 62 Low: 26.
Here are the top 3 stories today in Reno:
- On Saturday, Feb. 12, Interstate 80 was closed in both directions between North Virginia Street and Keystone Avenue for about 10 minutes as the Reno Police Department took a person into custody. Police responded to a call about a suicidal person on the Ralston Street overpass of the freeway where they determined the person was in a drug-induced state. He was taken into custody and was receiving medical treatment. (KOLO)
- Last year, a national law was passed that requires hospitals and health care facilities to transparently post their prices for 300 services. According to a PatientRightsAdvocate.org report, only seven of 63 hospitals and healthcare facilities in Nevada are currently compliant with this law. The report says one of the seven hospitals that does meet the terms of the price transparency law is Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. However, Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno is listed as non-compliant. (Nevada Appeal)
- The US National Weather Service in Reno has issued a warning for significant changes in the weather this week. After near-record warm temperatures this weekend, a fast-moving cold front is expected to bring gusty winds today with rain and low elevation snow showers that could make for a slippery morning commute on Tuesday.
