Here are the top stories in Reno today:2

  1. Teamsters Local 533 has reached a tentative agreement with RTC contractor Keolis Transit on scheduling, time off and a number of other issues. The members begin to return to work Thursday, Oct. 21 after going on strike for the second time in three months, but will continue to negotiate the remaining open contract articles as they work towards finalizing a new collective bargaining agreement. Local 533 hopes to complete negotiations with the company on compensation, disciplinary rules and other issues within the next two to three weeks; RTC Chair and Reno City Councilmember Neoma Jardon will continue to sit in on the remaining bargaining sessions. 2. All 1,700 city of Reno employees will soon be required to get the COVID-19 vaccine, but new data obtained by News 4-Fox 11 shows some departments have a long ways to go before getting to 100 percent vaccination. The documents show that five smaller departments are fully vaccinated and most city departments have vaccination rates above 80 percent. The Reno Police Department had by far the lowest vaccination rate of all 18 departments listed, with just 58 percent of RPD officers, command staff and support staff reporting they were vaccinated against COVID-19. 3. Sierra Nevada Properties, a real estate agency, has started its annual warm clothing drive earlier this year and is collecting new or gently used hoodies, sweatshirts, coats, hats, mittens/gloves, socks and winter shoes for kids ages five to 12 years old. The goal is to help kids in need at Libby Booth Elementary School. Donations can be dropped off inside the SNP's office, located at 6990 S. McCarran Blvd. Ste. 300, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (KOLO)
