🌱 Unemployment Rising + Paws 4 Passengers Soothes Airport Guests

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Reno.

Good morning, Reno! Like many of you, the Patch team is taking some time off to enjoy the holidays, so there will not be a newsletter in your inbox tomorrow. We appreciate your understanding of this slight pause in our schedule, and I will be back on Monday with the next edition of the Reno Daily! Now, here's everything happening around town today.

First, today's weather:

A little wintry mix. High: 40 Low: 32.

Here are the top stories today in Reno:

  1. Unemployment numbers for Reno are getting better and better. Reno's jobless rate has fallen to just 2.9%, compare that to the highest rate, which is Las Vegas at 6.6%. The lowest of all counties in Nevada is in Eureka County at 2.1%. (KKOH)
  2. We're all a little stressed these days, especially those at the Reno/Tahoe International Airport with crowded terminals, TSA screening, and standard pre-flight anxieties.
But with the sight of a dog all that changes. the mood lightens. That's the simple idea behind the work of a volunteer organization called Paws 4 Passengers and their dogs greeting people in the airport to soothe any pre-flight jitters. (KOLO)
  3. Looking to buy a house in Reno? Check out the latest sale prices by ZIP code. (Reno Patch)
