Here are the top 3 stories in Reno today:
- An associate professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Nevada, Reno is working to create role models for women who want to pursue a career in STEM with a new program. Growing up, Jamie Voyles, had parents that heavily supported her pursuit of science. Her mother even made it a point to show her female role models in STEM. STEM Sisters provides a space for high school and undergraduate students to collaborate and conduct college-level research. Graduate students act as facilitators and mentors throughout the program. - Last Thursday, a murder suspect was found dead in a drainage ditch off the Los Altos Parkway and Belmar. The suspect, Ramon Michael Clare, was wanted due to having a connection to a murder investigation involving 41-year-old Isacc Reshatoff's death. Reshatoff was found shot in a parking lot on Prater Way. Currently, the cause of Clare's death has not been discovered. (KOLO)
- This Saturday, all pet adoptions will be free at all Reno and Carson City humane society locations. This great event has been set in place to celebrate the society's 90 years of saving homeless pets. - The Lost Dogs, Cats & Pets of Reno is asking for your help in spreading the word about Parker! Parker was lost on Feb. 15 near Rockwood. He is described as a silver Pitbull that weighs approximately 80 pounds. Parker is a rescue and has a scar on the top of his head. Please reach out if you have any information. (Facebook)
