Vaccines Mandate For City Employees + Mayor Schieve Has COVID

Here are the top stories today in Reno:

  1. The City of Reno has informed its employees that it will require all employees to be vaccinated against COVID. The vaccination requirement will coincide with the full approval of the Moderna vaccine by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. (KOLO)
  2. Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve announced on Twitter that she has COVID-19 on Wednesday. Schieve, who noted that she is immunocompromised, tweeted, "I am grateful that I was able to get the COVID vaccine which is why my symptoms have been mild." (KOLO)
  3. Two convicted sex offenders are in custody at the Washoe County Detention Facility after local law enforcement agencies, in partnership with the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit (RSONU) made the arrests. Currently, there are about 1400 registered sex offenders in the Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County area. (Reno Patch)
  4. The Sierra Arts Foundation is hosting an Artist Member Mixer today at 12:00 p.m. at the Riverside Gallery. Members will have an opportunity to meet and mingle with local artists over refreshments. The Foundation will also be awarding its first artist grants of the year to its literary artists.
