New Hampshire School Board Approves First Robotics Program

The New Hampshire State Board of Education approved three new Learn Everywhere programs, including First Robotics®, The Boys and Girls Club of Souhegan Valley and the Seacoast United Sports Club. Learn Everywhere programs are an alternative pathway for New Hampshire students to earn high school credit while doing the things they love.

“We are excited that New Hampshire students have a growing list of educational opportunities,” stated Frank Edelblut, Commissioner of Education. “The magic of Learn Everywhere is that it connects with students, where they are already engaged, and captures the learning that is taking place. We recognize that learning happens in lots of different places and contexts, and we can reward students for this learning.”

Learn Everywhere, an innovative education program unique to New Hampshire, allows students to earn credit for learning outside of the classroom. Learn Everywhere was inspired, in part, by the book "Leaving to Learn," by Elliot Washor, author and founder of the alternative Met school in Providence, RI. In that book, Washor asks the question, “What if there were ways to provide and give credit for learning wherever and whenever it occurred?” This concept of wherever and whenever has been a continuous pursuit of the state of New Hampshire for more than a decade now.

The programs approved today join the list of previously approved programs that can be found www.learneverywherenh.org and www.education.nh.gov/partners/education-outside-the-classroom/learning-everywhere.
