This week NewsMatch, a national fundraising match program for nonprofit news outlets, announced that the New Hampshire Center for Public Interest Journalism will receive $21,033 in matching funds for its 2025 campaign.

You — our readers — are a big part of our success for 2025. Your matching donations in November and December of $61,824 made this gift possible. I'm sure you remember all the emails and stories we sent out almost daily to our 2 million readers and 17,250 subscribers to our free daily newsletters asking for your help to make it possible to share important news of New Hampshire and beyond. Thank you for coming through for us!

That will bring the total we will raise as a result of NewsMatch 2025 to $118,360.36. That includes $61,824 from our donors during November and December of 2025, plus the Local Matchers who donated $35,503.36 and, of course, $21,033 from NewsMatch.

Our Local Matchers stepped up to the plate, donating additional matching dollars totaling $35,503.36. NewsMatch Gifts from major Local Matcher donors included:

* $15,000 from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation
* $10,000 from the Katy Burns Local Journalism Fund
* $5,000 from the Clover Hitch Fund
* $3,503.36 from The Philbrick-James Forum of Deerfield
* $2,033 from the Barr Foundation.

Because of the power of this local support, proving how important our mission is to our greater community, NewsMatch provided extra incentives for participants like us based on how much we were able to raise from major donors locally, which included a $3,000 incentive from the Knight Foundation.

InDepthNH.org, which has published 12,653 news articles and columns since we launched Sept. 1, 2015, sent out a weekly email seeking donations with varying themes during NewsMatch's November and December 2025 campaign and we mentioned it every evening when we sent out the daily newsletter that includes the day's news.

They all included the following mentions about our Local Matchers because as most experts expect less funding from the national philanthropists in coming years, we are working hard to encourage more local philanthropists to help save local news: "The national funders of NewsMatch will match $15,000 up to $1,000 a person for November and December donations. And we have a record number of Local Matchers this year, now including: The Philbrick-James Forum Match, $3,503.36; the Katy Burns Local Journalism Fund, which matched $10,000, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, which matched another $15,000; the Clover Hitch Advisors matched $5,000 and the Barr Foundation $2,033."

It's not too early to think about becoming a Local Matcher for NewsMatch or for donating any day of the week to help save local news. Fort more information email nancywestnews@gmail.com.
