5 Great Things To Do in NH This Weekend

Get out of the house and have some fun!

1. HOLIDAY LIGHTS! The Amherst Tree Lighting Festival begins Friday night on the Village Green across from Moulton's Market. Boy Scouts will serve their annual cocoa and chestnuts roasted on an open fire, and Amherst First Baptist Church will serve popcorn. We will have a full schedule of this fun-filled holiday weekend coming tomorrow morning.

2. THE SONGS OF THE SEASON! The Souhegan Valley Chorus will have their holiday concert, “Ring in the Joyous Season” – a musical celebration of the season for the whole family on Sunday, Dec. 11 at  6 p.m. in the Souhegan High School Auditorium. The 60-member chorus, directed by Jennifer K. Erdody and accompanied by Laura Kennedy, will perform traditional pieces, familiar carols, several new works, and a few surprises sure to leave you smiling. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Children age 12 and under are admitted free. Tickets are available at The Toadstool Bookshop in Milford, from chorus members, or at the door on the night of the concert. 3. HOLIDAY ARTS AND CRAFTS! The New England Holiday Craft Festival will take place at the Rockingham Park Racetrack in Salem on from Saturday, Dec. 10 through Sunday, Dec. 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Over 150 Booths of American Made arts, crafts, specialty foods and live music. Admission is $5.00 for adults, while under 14 is free. Hourly door prizes of fine hand crafts. Parking is free. 4. DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY! Put on your dancing shoes and get into the swing of things with New England Swing on Dec. 9 at the White Birch in Hudson. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. A dinner buffet, alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments are available for purchase at the event. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the music goes from 7 to 9 p.m.

5. A CHRISTMAS CLASSIC! The Annual Palace Theatre tradition continues with Charles Dickens’ classic story of Scrooge and Tiny Tim, filled with lively song and dance featuring over fifty actors. Scrooge, known for his penny pinching ways, is visited by three ghosts on a snowy Christmas Eve. These ghostly visits reveal Scrooge’s past, present, and future to him and fill him with new found hope and joy in the Christmas season! Voted “Best Theatre Event of the Year” in Manchester by the Hippo Press readers, this show has fast become an audience favorite at the Palace. Tickets range $15 to $45.
