5 Things To Do In NH This Weekend

We found some fun things near you to occupy your time.

1. Grab some plants and more! The Amherst Garden Club Plant Sale will take place at Wilkins Elementary School on Saturday. The sale will feature over 1,500 perennials dug locally by club members; vendors selling annuals, herbs, vegetable plants, shrubs, and hanging baskets; gently used garden books; raffle baskets; a children's table, and a baked goods table. Knowledgeable gardeners are available for assistance.

2. Be our guest! The Peacock Players will be performing their version of Beauty and the Beast Friday night at the Janice B. Streeter Theatre. Step into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern classic! Based on the Academy-Award winning animated feature, the stage version of Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST includes all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.

3. Baaaaah! The 36th Annual NH Sheep and Wool Festival is coming to the Deerfield Fair Grounds on May 12 and 13. The Festival is a must attend event for spinners, weavers, knitters and fiber enthusiasts. Organized by the NH Sheep and Wool Growers Association and the New England Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association, the two day Festival offers a wide variety of workshops and demonstrations on spinning, weaving, shearing, sheep dogs, handling sheep, as well as judged sheep and alpaca shows.

4. Get your music on! Blue: The Music of Joni Mitchell will take the stage at the Capitol Center For The Arts Friday night. The show focuses on music from the first phase of her career. Taking its title from Joni’s landmark 1970 album, the concert presents Blue in its entirety, along with many other favorites from her other early albums (“Song To A Seagull,” “Clouds,” “Ladies Of The Canyon,” “For The Roses” and “Court And Spark.”) In this intimate, acoustic concert, Joni’s exquisitely crafted words shine through Grammy winning lead vocalist Leslie Ellis and singer/songwriter/actress Jo Williamson.

5. Wine Not? Join the IncrediBREW staff in Nashua on Friday, May 11 at 6 p.m. for yet another great Wine Celebration! This event will include wine tasting, snacks, hands-on wine making, games, prizes and five different bottles of their fully aged and ready to drink wines that you can take home. (Barbera, Bella Bianco, Cabernet/Shiraz, Super Tuscan, and Italian Pinot Grigio.) Less crowds, more fun and aged wine...it doesn't get any better. Space is limited to only 15 people, cost is $60 per person.
