5 Things to Do In NH This Weekend

We gathered some more fun things to entertain you and the family this summer.

1. Shop the new outlets! Throughout the four-day opening of the Merrimack Premium Outlets from June 14-17, several rock bands will be performing live, including Cover Story, Marc Apostolides, Matriarch and Theriault and Stefanelli. Other performances from Illusion, Mighty Groove, Lachlan Maclearn and Downtown Dave and the Deep Pockets will be featured, along with Mark and Karen from the Morning Waking Crew WOKQ and Suzanne Rountree from WZID. Grab special deals and join in-store disc jockeys and balloon artists at select stores. Also look out for more than 165 prizes and gift cards that will be raffled off throughout the opening celebration.

2. Rock those ribs! Enjoy the best barbecue in New Hampshire at the Rock N' Ribfest. On top of that, the meaty festival will also include a variety of music and entertainment! The Rock N' Ribfest runs on June 15, 16, and 17 at Anheuser-Busch in Merrimack, New Hampshire. All of the funds raised at the Rotary Rock’n Ribfest go to support area non-profit organizations, so come on out and enjoy helping others!

3. Kick-off the camping season! The N.H. Campground Owners’ Association will be celebrating the beginning of the summer vacation season with a “Camping Season Kickoff” in front of the N.H. Statehouse in Concord on Friday, June 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event features camping and N.H.attraction exhibits, live music, grilled hot dogs, S'mores, games and prizes for the kids, give-aways and lots of fun! For information contact the N.H. Campground Owners’ Association at 603-736-5540.

4. Right on key! Back by popular demand, The Palace Theater is bringing The Four Piano Men to its stage in Manchester. An original musical production by Artistic Director Carl Rajotte, The Four Piano Men brings to life the innovative and timeless music of Billy Joel, Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Freddie Mercury. Featuring a live band, top vocalists and dancers straight from New York City, this show will have you dancing.

5. Weave through a story! The Currier Museum of Art highlights part of New Hampshire’s new immigrant community – both its struggles and accomplishments – in its presentation of New Threads: An American Quilt Story now through July 9 in the Community Gallery. The exhibition features artwork made of African fabrics and a collaborative quilt that tells the story of traveling from war-torn Burundi in Eastern Africa to the challenges and successes of life in Manchester, NH. This showcases the Currier’s two-year long outreach initiative with Rubia Inc.’s Sewing Confidence class, a program where women from new immigrant and refugee families from Burundi, Rwanda and the Congo receive education and resources to foster sustainable business endeavors.
