5 Things You Need To Know Today: May 23

The thunder of guns tore me apart. You've been...Patchstruck.

1. Your weather report: Today will bring thunderstorms before clearing up later in the night. The storms will make their way through the area later in the day, with a high of 81 degrees. The weather turns partly cloudy in the evening with an overnight low of 60 degrees. Expect partly cloudy weather to continue into tomorrow.

2. Raffle for a good cause. Souhegan High School is hosting a fundraising raffle to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (pictured). Advisors donated baskets of items, the winners being announced at the Run For Hope fundraiser on Tuesday.

3. Patch Fact: Pegasus was an immortal winged horse in Greek mythology. He was the offspring of Medusa, a monstrous, snake-haired woman, and Poseidon, god of horses and of the sea.

4. Volunteers wanted. The Friends of the Amherst Town Library is seeking volunteers to help with the many activities and services they offer. They are particularly looking for a recording secretary for monthly meetings and a vice-chair who will work closely with the current chairperson to organize and head communications between the various volunteers. The non-profit, all-volunteer group devotes their time to supporting the library through fundraising efforts, along with developing programs that enrich the library’s cultural services to the community.
