Adult Rowing Spring Planning Meeting

Spring is in the air and that means it’s time to put that winter training to good use. The student rowing program at Souhegan High School has already started with dry land training, and once the lake thaws out we’ll be able to get both the student and adult programs back on the water and in full swing (so to speak).

We’d like to get all current and prospective adult rowers together to make some decisions about the upcoming season.

Location: Johnson Meeting Room at the Amherst Town Library
Time: Sunday, April 6, from 3:00 to 4:30

Please plan on attending. If you’re not sure where the room is, just ask at the library front desk.

We’ll use the meeting to discuss some general aspects of the rowing program, but also to define the adult practice schedule, including the daily schedule and the duration of the season, so come prepared to discuss when you can and can’t row. More than any other sport, rowing depends on having everyone at the same place at the same time, so we need to define times when everyone can get together.

Other topics we’ll cover are paperwork, apparel orders, and racing. If you’re already a member, your paperwork from the fall is still valid, but for any new rowers we’ll discuss the swim test and other requirements.

Regarding apparel, you’ll have the opportunity later to order various articles of athletic gear and clothing with the BLRC logo, and we’ll go over the options at the meeting. Whether we spend our time on the water training to race or just to enjoy the rowing experience depends on what you – as the club members – want. Though there aren’t as many racing opportunities for adults during the spring as there are during the summer and fall, we’ll discuss the options and define some goals for this season.

It will soon be time to get out and enjoy the beautiful Baboosic Lake!
