UPDATED: Amherst Middle School Evacuated After Bomb Threat
Handwritten note reportedly found in a classroom; superintendent says they know the student who wrote the note.

Students at Amherst Middle School were evacuated this morning and taken to Souhegan High School due to a bomb threat.
According to the school district, at around 8:40 a.m., a handwritten note was found in one of the classrooms reportedly stating that the was “a bomb in a bathroom at the school.”
Students were evacuated from the school at that time and later, dismissed for the day.

“All students are safe at this time,” according to a note on the district’s website.
Amherst Police and Fire teams are at the school with administrators completing a thorough search of the building and grounds.

Media reports, including the New Hampshire Union Leader, report that school Superintendent Peter Warburton said officials know the student who wrote that know and that “he didn’t really mean it.” WMUR-TV is reporting that nothing was found at the school.
