Amherst Property Values Down

The revaluation of property across town recently ended with a 16 percent overall drop in value compared to last year.

The town of Amherst’s 2011 taxable assessment decreased about $300,500,000 compared to the 2010 assessment.

Vision Appraisal was contracted to update assessments in Amherst for the 2011 tax year. They worked through 240 sales from April 1, 2009 until March 31, 2011.

A total of 94 hearings were held with property owners until the end of September on their assessment changes.

According to Certified New Hampshire Assessor Scott Marsh, the revaluation has brought assessments more in-line with the market.

The Board of Selectmen approved these changes at their meeting on Monday.
