Amherst Town Band Announces New Music Director

AMHERST, NH — The Executive Board of the Amherst Town Band announces the appointment of Lisa Hansen as the new conductor and music director of the band.

Lisa is an Amherst native and began performing with the Amherst Town Band in 2004 during her senior year at Souhegan High School. She continued her education at the University of New Hampshire where she completed her Bachelor's degree in Music Education with a focus on piano. Over the past eight years, she has been teaching elementary school general music, band, and chorus, first in Jaffrey, and currently in Hollis. She recently completed her Master's degree in Music Education at Gordon College.

During her years with the Amherst Town Band, Lisa has played trumpet, euphonium, trombone, and tuba. She also enjoys playing trumpet with the Amherst Brass Quintet as well as steel drums with the Tropical Sensations Steel Drum Band out of Troy.

Lisa is thrilled at the opportunity to conduct this group and help bring wonderful music to the community through the incredible musicians of the Amherst Town Band.
