The Amherst Town Band also has a call-out for a new conductor. From the Band's notice:

"The conductor receives a modest stipend, but this is essentially a volunteer position. If you are an experienced director who is dedicated to community music and helping amateur performers of all ages enhance their musical abilities, please visit our website at www.amhersttownband.org for a complete description of the position duties. Interested candidates should submit a letter of application and resume to info@amhersttownband.org before May 15, 2012. We will invite several of the best-qualified applicants to conduct the band at one of our regular rehearsals during June as we prepare our repertoire for the summer season.

The band currently numbers approximately 35 members from all over southern New Hampshire. The band annually performs a series of 8-10 summer concerts, a Christmas celebration, and a spring concert to benefit an area charity.

The band celebrated its 25th Anniversary season in 2011. It is featured in several area parades, including the Keene Pumpkin Festival and the nationally-renowned Amherst 4th of July Parade. The band has also performed in Wales, UK, as part of an exchange program with the Milford Haven Wales Town Band.

The band rehearses regularly on Tuesday nights throughout the year at Souhegan High School."
