Amherst Voters Reject School Budget, Full-Day K

Mix, Eastman also win seats; town's budget approved.

Voters in Amherst approved the town’s $12.4 million operating budget while choosing candidates for town offices but rejected the school budget by more than 140 votes. Full-day Kindergarten also went down to defeat by nearly 700 votes.

In the competitive Cemetery Trustee race, Lisa Eastland bested Cynthia Dokmo by a mere five votes for the single, three-year seat. Norman Carnick came in third with 180 votes.

Lori Mix was also elected to the Trustee of the Trust Funds three-year seat over Kevin Grassett by more than 300 votes.

Voters approved a number of budget items and zoning amendments but rejected a $328,000 sidewalk construction project by nearly 1,500 votes.
