Politico reported this morning that the National Republican Congressional Committee is launching a paid radio campaign blasting Carol Shea-Porter and Annie Kuster for their votes to shut down the federal government unless they and their staffs continued to receive federal subsidies to pay for the extra cost of Obamacare.
Shea-Porter and Kuster voted on Monday night against a bipartisan continuing resolution to keep the government open, to delay Obamacare's individual mandate for a year, and to require Members of Congress to be subject to the same health care exchange rules as members of the public.
The sixty second radio ad begins:
“How out-of-touch is [Democratic Rep.] Annie Kuster with New Hampshire families?” asks one ad. “So out-of-touch that she voted to shut down the government in order to protect Congress’ taxpayer funded healthcare.”
It continues: “While Washington forces Obamacare on New Hampshire families, Kuster votes to give herself a break. Instead of living by the same rules as everyone else, members of Congress receive special subsidies to pay for their healthcare. And what are New Hampshire families left with? Higher premiums, higher health care costs and less access to quality care. Washington is broken and its clear Kuster is part of the problem.”
Kuster and Shea-Porter also voted last night against bipartisan bills that would continue to pay for veterans benefits and would keep National Parks open.
