Board to Discuss Irene Response, OHRV Ordinance

Members of the Amherst Emergency Operations Center team will present an “After Action Report” to the Board of Selectmen at tonight’s meeting.

EOC members will detail their preparations before, during and after Hurricane Irene made its way through Amherst.

The board had discussed an OHRV ordinance, but decided to table any decision until the issue was discussed with school officials, sine it may affect school-owned land.

The ordinance was presented in response to complaints from homeowners. There had been some loud vehicles on town-owned land and conservation land, but without an ordinance, there is little the police can do.

A timeline for the town’s budget should be finalized by tonight as well.
