Amherst PTA Announces 2012 Fall Grant Recipient

Wilkins School to receive a new public address system for the multipurpose room.

The PTA Board was excited to see that several teachers and staff members had made an application request for the 2012-2013 Fall Grants.  Assistance in reviewing the grants was given by Anna Rego, a previous board member and Committee Chair for Grants.  PTA President, Paula-Marie Passen, met with Mrs. Rego to review each request that was submitted.  The Executive Board then met and requested assistance from Principal, Gerry St. Amand, to review and discuss each application.  This meeting was then followed by another meeting with all available board members.

After careful consideration, the board decided to offer the grant to Mr. Dean Lipson, Technology Network Administrator at Clark and Wilkins Schools. Mr. Lipson made the request for a new public address system for the Wilkins School multipurpose room.

"Congratulations!  We know this will be a huge benefit to the school, just think of hearing all those beautiful voices when Mr. Allwarden and the children have their musical presentation."  -The Amherst PTA Board

Each grant that had been received was approved and the board tried to work the budget to fulfill each request. Unfortunately, the majority of the requests had to be placed on hold for the time being.  The board has two major fundraising events that have been given conservative expectations. The hope is to surpass the preliminary goal so as to fulfill each grant request as the board truly believes that each request deserved to be received.

These two major fundraisers will be taking place during the month of October.  We will be hosting a Calendar Raffle and a new FaLaLa holiday fundraiser (the magazine drive with a twist that will have something for everyone!)  We ask for your support in assisting us with making them very successful.  It is our goal to contact those teachers and provide them with their requests in January.
