AMS Girls Keep Streak Alive:

Mikayla Hickey led the Amherst girls in wins at Hudson on
Monday and then at Bedford on Thursday to keep their four year win streak in
tack. Mikayla’s stellar performances included a school record in the 100 with a
sizzling time of 12.8 at Hudson and then at Bedford she increased her school
record in the long jump with a leap of 15’ 8” after fouling on her two previous
attempts. Mikayla’s week included sweeps in the 100, 200, long jump and 4 x 100
relay.

Kate Bermingham kept her undefeated streak alive in the 400
and then at Bedford placed 2nd in the hurdles with a fast 15.9 after
just practicing that event twice.

AMS Boys Showing Promise:

Cameron Behn continued his emergence as one of the best
performers in the Tri County league. Cameron’s week included wins in the
hurdles, 200 (season best 25.6) and relays.  At Hudson, Cameron also had a personal best in the high jump to place second.

At Bedford, in the final event of the night the 4 x 400 relay, Cameron found
himself at least forty meters behind the leader.  Upon taking the hand-off he set his sights on the leader and immediately started reeling him in. At the 200 mark he had cut the lead in half and upon rounding the final curve stormed down the
straightaway passing the lead runner and captured first place. Cameron’s time
for his leg was 58 seconds, which would place him at the top for the 400 in the
league if he ran that event.

Other top performers: Aaron Hinton (100, 200, high jump,
relay), Keelan Mckenzie (400, 800, relay), Ali Ewiess (100, 200, relay), Erich
Rotthoff (shot put, relay) and Thomas Lipken (1600, 800).
