AMS April 12 Track & Field

AMS Track & Field for April 12

Amherst girls and boys track teams both combine for over 200 points in their wins over Windham, West Running Brook and Hood.  The meet was briefly held up do to poor weather conditions and the high jump pit was closed but otherwise everything went smoothly.

Anna Farrow led the way while keeping in tack her undefeated streak in the hurdles and also taking firsts in the long jump and 4 x 200 relay
(2nd in 400). Kate Bermingham took first in the 400 holding off teammate Anna Farrow’s charge, last seasons undefeated champion, for the 2nd week in arrow. Kate also finished a strong third in the 800 while also running a leg on the 4 x 200 relay. Mikayla

Hickey took wins in the 100, 200 and 4 x 100 relay while Jess Ewing inched closer to breaking the school record in the 800 with a winning time of 2:31.7. Earlier, Jess took first on her way to ending teammate Hannah Gillis’s two year undefeated streak in the 1600. Following close behind Madeleine Hunt took
second in the 800 & 1600 as her pursuit of surpassing her teammates continues. Other top performances for the girls include, Juliane Donohue (2nd in shot put and hurdles) and Casey Johnson (2nd in 100, 200),

The boys were paced by Matt Blood with wins in the 100, long jump and 4 x 100 relay and a fourth in the 200. Cameron Behn also had three
first place finishes,  hurdles, 200 and 4 x 200 relay. Keelan McKenzie won the 800 (4 x 200 relay) and placed 2nd in the 400. Finishing close behind Keelan in both the 400 & 800 was Ely Marciano (4 x 200 relay). Returning to the team Aaron Hinton took a 2nd in the 100 and a 3rd in the 200 while Thomas Lipkin showed promise by placing 2nd in the 1600 (5th in 800), the first time he’s run that event. Other top performers for the boys: Foster Burnley (2nd in hurdles, 3rd in long jump), Ali Eweiss (2nd in 200, 6th in long jump, 1st 4 x 100 relay) and Erich Rotthoff (2nd in shot put, 1st in 4 x 100 relay).

The teams travel to Hudson (Alvirne High School) on Monday.
