Further Comments on Legislative Successes

Business and employee friendly accomplishments of this terms legislature

My last contribution covered a broad array of accomplishments by this terms legislature. Today I would like to focus on the achievements made for the business community. After all if you don't run a business you work for one (and by the way more of us are working today in NH then were working when this legislature took office) and the facts are that this legislature passed over 80 business friendly bills. For example: we provided 10 forms of tax relief allowing employers to be more competitive, grow their businesses, and hire more employees. Examples are doubling the carry-forward period for the BET tax, eliminating the gambling winnings tax to help our retailers, cut fees for a multitude of service industries, established eligibility for community revitalization tax relief, increased the net operating loss carry-forward under the BPT, increased depreciation deduction for BPT, and eliminated the tax on Internet services, just to name a few.

We also reduced the regulatory burden not just for businesses but for consumers as well. We reduced the regulatory burden on over 20 businesses or occupations, restored the secret ballot for workers who face unionization, provided relief for reporting to home schoolers, improved the state's LLC laws, opened the telephone service market to promote more not less competition, and helped farm stands and farmers markets to promote and sell their products with less oversight.

Well that's it for this time but as promised and provided there's much more accomplished by this legislature and we'll provide more examples next time.
