How Does That Saying Go? Déjà Vu All Over Again!

House Dem's determined to repeat history and spend more than we have. As this continues will it lead to another historical purge even greater than 2011?

We are barely into the third month of the new administration and once again the majority has begun spending more than we have, downshifting costs to the towns through the county, and indebting our children and grandchildren forever. After the electoral spanking they received from their antics in their prior term one might think there was a message to be learned. Apparently not!  And rather than spend time and effort on our financial crisis their very first act(s) were to undue rules and laws passed just last session although we still are allowed balloons and thank goodness there are no mandated dual sex public bathrooms – yet.  Oh and were presented a resolution to commemorate Roe V Wade! There’s a priority if I ever saw one.

The downshifting to towns has begun and in a very subtle manner. Rather than raise your taxes where you’d be most likely to see them the choice is to pass down costs to the COUNTY who will then be forced to apply them to your tax bill. Looks like about 2-3 million dollars for Hillsboro County alone! Where is the clamor town councils, alderman and selectmen? Have you lost your voice?

We must all have read that the Governor included 80 million dollars of gambling revenue in her budget that no one knows will ever exist.  Even though the budget committee did not allow that phantom revenue to be used they spent the money as if it did exist! Do you have a favorite dedicated fund like LCHIP, Fish and Game or any one of the 300 or so dedicated funds? Kiss that money good-bye! The current proposed budget allows for the raiding of all the funds in all the dedicated accounts. Yes, even after Lynch raided them there was still some money in the funds!

HB1 the budget and HB 2 the trailer bill and HB 25 which contains about 130 million in bonding will be looked at this week by the House already reeling from a 67% increase in gas tax 25% increase in heating oil tax and a 300% increase in fees for our state’s summer camps all voted to pass by your current Democrat controlled House. Wait till you hear what they have done to public education!
