Kuster's Name Calling is Shameful!

Tom Thomson, Tree Farmer from Orford and son of the late, former NH Governor Meldrim Thomson.

In a recent Concord Monitor article titled “Family, political ties run deep for Bass, Kuster” I was surprised to see how “earthy” Anne Kuster has gone when she called former Governor Thomson a “Worm”.

In 1972 when my father the late former Governor Meldrim Thomson won the primary over Governor Walter Peterson, Anne said “everybody was shocked and devastated”, so her father, a Republican, decided to run in the general election as an Independent, he lost and my father became governor for the next six years (1973-1979) But Anne Kuster continues to hold a grudge some 40 years later as she just called my Dad a “Worm”. For Kuster, a Congressional Candidate to be calling my father a “worm” says a lot about the character of this person.

Anne, my father was quite capable of defending himself but he passed away April 19, 2001, 11 plus years ago.  Anne Kuster can be callus and unprofessional and call my late father whatever she wants, but no matter what she calls him she can never change the legacy Dad left this great state of New Hampshire. (Remember, Anne has wanted to impose an income tax on our hard working taxpayers in NH for a long time). Please let me share with you six points that most elected officials could only dream of leaving such a record:

1. Governor Thomson had a surplus every year and left in 1979 a $12 million surplus.

2. He had a triple “AAA” State Bond Rating which was the best in New England.

3. NH had the lowest unemployment in New England which was 3.4%.

4. NH had the lowest State Gross Debt in New England.

5. The only state in New England with neither a Sales or Income Tax.

6. NH had the lowest State and Local Taxes per capita in New England. Dad had a simple but profound statement which was “Low Taxes are the result of Low Spending” Congressman Charlie Bass believes in these same principles and I will be voting for a serious candidate for Congress, not one who enjoys name calling on our deceased state leaders.

Please join me on Nov. 6th and vote for Charlie Bass.
