Local Publishing Company Honors Earth Day with Latest Release

Apprentice Shop Books of Amherst, NH will debut its newest book When Rivers Burned: The Earth Day Story at a book launch on Sunday, April 21.

Apprentice Shop Books is pleased to introduce When Rivers Burned: The Earth Day Story by award-winning author and Rhode Island resident Linda Crotta Brennan with design and illustrations by local award-winning illustrator/designer Lisa Greenleaf (Nashua, NH).  Already hailed as “the best brief chronology of the important historical strands in that period” by Denis Hayes (the first Earth Day organizer), When Rivers Burned discusses the events and conditions that led to the creation of Earth Day in 1970.  Photos and illustrations accompany the evolution of events that culminated with a nationally recognized celebration of Earth Day.  A movement that began as an effort to raise awareness has evolved over more than forty years into an internationally recognized celebration that has engaged millions of people around the world.

The book launch which debuts When Rivers Burned: The Earth Day Story will take place on Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 1p to 4p at the Audubon Society of Rhode Island Environmental Education Center in Bristol, RI.  Author Linda Crotta Brennan will be discussing the historical events included in the book and answering questions.   Both the author and designer/illustrator will be available for book signing throughout the afternoon.  The event is free to the public.
