News from the Friends of the Amherst Library

Friends of the Amherst Library give thanks for holiday lights help and announce volunteer opportunities.

News from the Friends of the Amherst Town Library
The Friends of the Amherst Town Library would like to send a big 'thank you' to Scott Blair, a volunteer firefighter who helped us put lights on the trees outside of the library. We couldn't have done this job without Scott's help! We really appreciate his assistance again this year. Also, a group of volunteers from the Friends decorated the library for the holidays on Friday, November 30th. The theme this year is cardinals, white snowflakes and red berries. In an effort to reduce costs and reuse many beautiful things from years past, most of the decorations this year are recycled. We hope you will visit the library and enjoy the decorations during the holidays.
Did you know that your donations help save the library in purchases of new books? Please consider your gently used, enjoyed but don't need anymore, books to the library. Make sure to refer to the library website for the donation guidelines.  Also, did you know that the Friends raise money for the library by selling the books that the library doesn't need anymore?
We are a volunteer group that provides supplementary services and supplies to our library. We help out in the areas of "it would be nice but... the money isn't in the budget," or "the staff is already stretched too thin."     We decorate for the winter holidays, organize and arrange for displays, exhibits, concerts and several special guests. Our contributions have purchased computers, DVD's and the annual passes to area museums.
Please join the Friends of the Amherst Town Library, a non-profit all volunteer group that devotes time to support the library through fund raising efforts and developing programs that enrich the library's cultural services to our community.
Come share in the fun and rewards that come with working with a great group of people! Our current Chair, Kimberly Ayers, would be happy to share with you the details and answer all of your questions and let you know when our next meeting will be so that you can join us! She can be reached at kimberlyayers@comcast.net, or by phone at (603)249-9108.  You can also become a member online at http://www.amherst.lib.nh.us/Friends.htm
