NH Dept. Of Safety Attempts $26 Million Heist

Proposed budget encourages larceny. Not unlike manufacturing 80 million in income Governor hopes to have law changed or Dept of Safety will be breaking the law under proposed budget.

More budget baloney below.

Analysis by the nonpartisan LBO (Legislative Budget Office) shows that Gov. Hassan’s proposed budget proposes the Safety Department break existing law- RSA 9:9-6- and steal 26 million dollars from the DOT (Dept. of Transportation) during the next 2 years. Money DOT could and should use to fix NH highways and bridges and also eliminate the proposed family friendly 65% increase on your gas and fuels tax, 65%. One would hope the Governor to be above such shenanigans and backroom mischief, our hopes have been fruitless. We heard throughout her inaugural speech that this was going to be an open and transparent administration. Apparently this promise fell into the potholes or off the bridges needing repair! The fact is in order for this theft to be legal current law must be changed otherwise it is grand larceny of your money. No one knows if that law will change yet the money is allocated in the proposed budget. One might think the Department of Safety, responsible for enforcing our laws, would not participate in what must be portrayed as a undermining of current law. Not so at this point at least.

You’ll want to tell all your legislators Senators and House members that you want the current law to remain, the 26 million dollars spent on road and bridge repair, and you’d rather not see your gas and fuel taxes increase by 65% as proposed.
