Race Series, Free For Students, Can Earn $5000 for Amherst PTA
Runners, skiers and snowboarders- get out for a morning of snow and racing.
Coach Jan and I wanted to make the schools, PTA and ski clubs in Amherst/Mont Vernon aware of this really great opportunity to make some money for the PTA. The link below brings you to a website for a series of races up and down local ski mountains over the winter. There are a variety of ways these races can be competed- running, skiing and snowboarding are the most common. Some of our Granite State Flash runners and parents did this series last year and had a great time, so we can vouch for the quality, and are participating again this year. The courses are tough, but the races are FREE TO STUDENTS, a great time and they give away a lot of great prizes. The school district with the highest percentage of participation wins a cash award for the local PTA. Last year Bow won the $2000 award by competing in JUST 1 RACE- the Nordic team sent about 12 kids- so we know it is legitimate. We had some home school kids that were actually the highest percentage but they had no school district/PTA so weren't eligible. This year the award went up to $5000. We wanted to get the word out since we have so many kids in Amherst/MV that run and ski. The first race is Jan 5 at Wachusett Mtn. Here is a link to the series website.
