Charlie Sherman Loses Selectmen's Race

The selectman candidate fell about 80 votes short.

It was a close race for the two selectmen seats, but the incumbents came out on top.

Bruce Bowler and Brad Galinson will remain on the board for another three-year term.

Bowler received 1,204 votes and Galinson received 1,209 votes on Tuesday. Galinson late last year after former chairman Jim O'Mara was named town administrator.

Newcomer , who is well-known as the former sports director at WMUR, came in at a close third with 1,126 votes. The self-proclaimed "tax-fighter" ran on the platform of budget tightening and ousting the "good old boys" in town government.

He had to apologize recently after  at a candidate's forum hosted by the Amherst Citizen's Association.

Nancy Baker and Karl "Ted" Krantz beat out three other candidates for the library trustee postions. Baker won by a large percentage with 1,160 votes and Krantz received 667 votes, beating third candidate Richard W. Martini by just 15 votes. 

William S. Belvin beat fellow candidate Kevin J. Grassett with 933 votes to his 775 for the cemetery trustee position.

The race for the open Souhegan Cooperative School Board seat was close, but Peter Maresco came out on top with 714 votes. Marilyn Peterman came in second with 607 votes, while Jane Pollio received 579 votes.
