Common Core Through The Back Door?

SAU 39 Officials Ignore Citizens  Concerns.

Many citizens throughout NH have sincere and justifiable concern regarding what's known as Common Core. Not a few of these folks live in Amherst and approached the Amherst School Board and the Sau 39 board with reasonable questions regarding the implementation and source of authority to upend the current process in Amherst. Suffering through run-around, incomplete and inaccurate information has encouraged the search for the truth by active members of the community.

It would appear that SAU 39 board has issued an invitation only meeting regarding Common Core to a few select - about 65 in number - individuals. Have you received yours? I suspect what we have here is a gross violation of NH RSA 91-A as the public is neither notified nor invited to attend. The potential for violation certainly exists and legal consult warranted. Certainly this is not surprising as for decades our elected officials have practiced avoidance of controversy in many instances.

Common Core is an experiment in education and not well received by many communities including Alton, Epping, and Manchester to name but a few. There exist no scientific validation that this idea works and in fact 2 of the most prominent people who served as advisers in developing the program have refused to endorse the program yet those who we trust with our children's education and future are set on forcing this upon Amherst. Is it your choice for your children to be guinea pigs for an unproven program?
