CT Gov to Campaign for Clinton in NH

Dannel Malloy will attend house party in Amherst, phone bank in Nashua on Monday.

Gov. Dannel Malloy, D-CT, will visit the Granite State on Aug. 24-25, 2015, to attend grassroots organizing events for Hillary Clinton, according to the campaign.

On Monday, Malloy will meet with Granite State progressive activists at a grassroots open house in Amherst. Later in the day, he will kick off a phone bank at Hillary for New Hampshire’s Nashua office, part of Hillary for New Hampshire’s efforts to work hard to earn every vote in New Hampshire’s first in the nation primary.

The campaign stated in a press release that the Hillary for New Hampshire effort “is building a grassroots campaign that connects supporters and builds relationships with Granite Staters through one-on-one meetings, small gatherings, and online engagement.”

During the open house, the campaign will engage supporters and volunteers to be part of the campaign by signing a “Commit to Vote” card, pledging to vote for Hillary in the first-in-the-nation primary.

At each event, the Connecticut governor will outline Clinton’s bold New College Compact, which will make sure costs won’t be a barrier to getting to college, and debt after graduation won’t hold families back. Clinton introduced the plan at a recent Town Hall event in Exeter and took questions from voters.

Hillary Clinton announced the plan this week to allow students who pursue public service to graduate from an in-state public college without any debt. Building on her New College Compact, Clinton’s plan to build a new foundation for national service centers on expanding AmeriCorps, as well as increasing its education awards to AmeriCorps service members. It pledges to more than triple the number of AmeriCorps service members to 250,000 service members, raises the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award for any service member who completes two years of full-time AmeriCorps service and works for a year in public service to more than $23,000, and makes the Segal AmeriCorps Education awards tax-free.
