Erickson Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison in Child Porn Case

Three-month investigation led to arrest in June.

Daniel Erickson, 39, of Keene, was sentenced in United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire to three years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of transportation of child pornography, announced United States Attorney John P. Kacavas.

The investigation began in March 2014, when the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that images of child pornography being traded via email.

The Task Force traced the images to a computer associated with the defendant’s address. After further investigation by the Department of Homeland Security and the Hinsdale Police Department, a search warrant was executed at the defendant’s home in May 2014. An external computer storage device seized from the defendant was found to contain images of child pornography which had been downloaded through the internet. The defendant will be required to register as a sex offender in any state in which he lives or works and will be supervised by United States Probation for five years after he is released from prison.

The charge was the result of an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, the Hinsdale Police Department and the New Hampshire ICAC Task Force and is being prosecuted under Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
