First Wave of Job Seekers Out in Force

Hunter Bayrd and Alondra Patterson were only in the Disney Store line for a few minutes before their dreams of working in a world of fantasy came crashing to an abrupt halt.

"I'm sorry; you have to be 18 to work in our store," said a very kind store representative to the two Nashua High School North students, who are just 16.

"That would've been nice. I love that store," said Alondra.

The two arrived at about 7 a.m. for the Merrimack Premium Outlets Job Fair, which features representatives from about 80 percent of the 100 stores, coming to Merrimack June 14, said Elaine Devine, General Manager for the outlet complex.

"We're very pleased with the turnout so far," Devine said. She anticipated several waves of job seekers – the early risers, the lunch crowd, the after-school high school rush, and the after-work rush hour.

"We'll be here until 6 p.m., so anyone who's looking should definitely stop by," Devine said.
