Local Fashion For A Good Cause

A student-organized fashion show raised over $1,200 to help the Hope For Gus Foundation.

Helping out is always in style.

Last Friday's Souhegan Style Fashion Show has raised over $1,275 for The Hope for Gus Foundation.

Hope For Gus was started by , a teacher at Souhegan High School, and his wife Tonya in order to find a cure for their son, Gus, and many other young boys with Duchene Muscular Dystrophy.

Four-year-old Gus Dreher was diagnosed with DMD in 2010, a fatal genetic disorder that afflicts one in every 3,500 boys born each year.

The high school's fashion show was organized freshmen Carly Sequin, Hailley McCaffery and Kali Mondor. They had worked tirelessly since September on planning, selling and advertising the event.

"Overall, it was really wonderful," said Steve Dreher. "I continue to be amazed at the generosity and open hearts of this community."

The students weren't the only fashionable ones, with young Gus sporting a dress shirt and tie for the show.

David's Bridal of Nashua donated dresses for the evening, while Innovations Spa of Merrimack provided hair and makeup for all the models.

This is not the first time Souhegan High has worked to support the Drehers. They recently organized a  event to raise money through the school's football team.
