Politics & Government
Op-Ed: Lisa Nash For Amherst/Bedford State Rep.
Lisa Nash for State Representative, Amherst/Bedford on November 6th.
Friends and neighbors, my name is Lisa Nash, I am running for State Representative in District 41, which represents both Amherst and Bedford (if you live in Amherst you vote for representatives in both District 22 and District 41).
It’s time to put real people back into state politics. New Hampshire has the largest state legislative body in the country and is a citizen legislature by design. Our local representatives are our voices at the state house and should represent the whole community. It’s time to move past the political in-fighting and partisan gridlock toward respectful discourse and real solutions. Addressing the ongoing mental health and opioid crisis, clean water, air and soil, education funding, and taking care of NH’s military families and veterans are all issues that need direct, bi-partisan action. We can find solutions if we’re willing to seek common ground. I am a hard working, independent minded, moderate choice committed to working with you and for you at the state house. If elected I promise to show up and represent all voices, Democrat, Independent, Republican or Undeclared.
My husband, four children, and I have lived in Bedford for 19 years. For the last 14 years I have been involved in the community through various volunteer roles including coaching basketball, soccer, baseball and Girls on the Run, as a Math & Science Idea Center volunteer, as a church youth leader, a member of the Bedford Curriculum Committee, and in leadership roles in the Parent Teacher Group, Stand By Me, Bedford Soccer League and Taxpayers for Quality Education. I am proud to be a two time “Champion for Children” nominee, to have been a part of the planning and building of the award winning Peter Woodbury School Outdoor Classroom & gardens and the hands on science program at Peter Woodbury School known as DIG (Discover, Investigate, Grow) as well as being the founder of the KidVote program that gives students a voice in matters at their individual schools.
