John Lennon, Yoko Ono Interviews to be Auctioned

The auction is being conducted by RR Auctions of Amherst.

A couple of reels with unedited interviews with John Lennon and Yoko Ono will be auctioned off by RR Auctions in Amherst later this month, according to an article on Art Daily.

The interview reels have been buried in interviewer Howard Smith's loft for about 40 years. Smith was a reporter for the Village Voice at the time of the interview.

An excerpt from the interview where Lennon spoke of the making of the "Let It Be" album:

“We were going through hell. We often do. It’s torture every time we produce anything. The Beatles haven’t got any magic you haven’t got. We suffer like hell anytime we make anything. And we got each other to contend with. Imagine working with the Beatles, it’s tough,” he said. “There’s just tension. It’s tense every time the red light goes on.”

The tape is part of a large collection of Beatles-related items being sold during the Marvels of Modern Music Auction at RR Auction between Sept. 19 to Sept. 26.
