LETTER: Dan Dwyer Won't Be Beholden To Special Interests

Supporter says Dwyer will represent Senate District 11 better than Peter Bragdon.

To the Editor:

The district 11 primary for State Senate between Senate President, PeterBragdon, and Merrimack Town Councilor, Dan Dwyer is an important race. With no Democrat running, the primary could be the only contest for the seat.
Senator Bragdon is running as an incumbent to the new district and has been in the Senate since 2004.

According to followthemoney.org, he raised $34,000 for his 2010 campaign from lawyers, lobbyists, and unions. The 2012 filings aren't in yet, but media reports say that he has at least $63,000 in the war chest going into the 2012 campaign, most likely from the same kinds of special interests, so my question is simple:  Will Senator Bragdon represent voters in Amherst, Milford, Merrimack and Wilton or the special interests that have funded his campaigns for years?

On the other hand, there is Dan Dwyer, a candidate that has been a vocal opponent of special interests and has gone on the record for term limits to guard against corruption. On the Merrimack Town Council, he has been stellar. He led the charge in reforming the library budget this year which is already bearing fruit. New services are being offered, hours of operation are being added, and the trustees are pursuing his challenge to spend more on programs and less on staff. Dan is an innovative problem solver who cares about the residents.

The choice is clear; a comfortable politician, tied to special interests or a genuine conservative who is focused on constituents. Dan has my vote on Sept. 11th and I hope that you will consider lending him yours as well. Check out his website www.DanDwyer2012.com.
