Mary Pawlenty Represents Husband [VIDEO]
The wife of the Republican presidential candidate touts her husband's economic plan and conservative values at a meet and greet in Amherst.
Mary Pawlenty met with Amherst residents this evening to tell them that her husband, Republican candidate Tim Pawlenty, provides “results, not rhetoric.”
As she spoke to a roomful of supporters inside the club house at the The Fells of Amherst, the wife of the presidential hopeful said she wanted to do her best to represent her husband to New Hampshire voters.
She said that her husband has the most detailed economic plan of any Republican candidate running, adding that President Barack Obama does not have such a plan.
Speaking on her husband’s behalf, she Pawlenty told supporters that the president is “unqualified” to lead the country and was leading it in the wrong direction. She detailed how conservative values would be the key to economic recovery.
“The president has a different world view than we do,” she said.
She said her husband, who has served as governor and majority leader Minnesota, knows “real life” problems that Americans face and knows his core values that will overcome them. She said her husband has talked to business owners and many have said that they wanted the government to reduce regulations.
She added that her husband supports a decrease in the tax rate for corporations, but in exchange for an elimination of special deals that support a culture of lobbying in what should be a fair market.
According to Pawlenty, her husband led Minnesota even when his ideology did not jive with others in leadership in the state. She said her husband was still able to work with those he disagreed with while fighting for conservative principles.
“There are times when you are going to have to do battle,” she said. “He has battle scars from working with legislatures.”
Pawlenty told supporters that her husband has a high level of international experience dealing with businesses involved with trade outside of the country. She stressed that her husband was concerned with national security as the highest priority and that he would maintain a presence globally to protect the country’s national security.
She added that he is a "strong supporter" of Israel and would stand "shoulder to shoulder" with them as allies.
When asked about her husband’s plan for the country’s energy policy, Pawlenty replied that her husband fully supports garnering more American energy that will also aid our country’s economic troubles.
