A new salon and spa is opening in Amherst next month.
Salon Amalie, located on Ponemah Road near the Route 101A intersection, is set to open on Oct. 1, co-owner Marguerite Caron said this week. An open house will be held in late October.
Caron is the former owner of Impressions by Marguerite, a spa that was located in the Meeting Place plaza by the Post Office until it closed three years ago. She and Linda Booth from Salon Apex in Amherst teamed up to open Salon Amalie.
The new salon at 102 Ponemah Road will have hairdressers, aestheticians, nail care, electrolysis, massage and acupuncture. When it opens it will be located on the first floor, but it will eventually expand upstairs as well. Caron said there will be about eight people working at the salon to start.
"It's the perfect spot," she said.
