Poe Letter Sold For HOW MUCH?

A rare letter from Edgar Allan Poe to a literary publication sold for 164,520, according to the Boston Globe.

's rare letter to the editor from the famous writer was written to Sarah Josepha Hale of Boston on Oct. 20, 1837. The letter was in response to a requested prose article, saying he was "overwhelmed with business" after being ill. Poe had penned many pieces for her magazine.

He wrote, "To send you a crude or hastily written article would be injurious to me, and an insult to yourself."
