POLL: Do You Support Expanded Gambling?

Voice your choice as lawmakers in the House weigh in this week.

Months of debate and discussion is expected to culminate in , which would legalize expanded casino gambling in the Granite State.

 said it will improve the state economy and revenues will be used to take a bite out of business taxes.

“This is the most significant jobs and tax cut bill our Legislature has seen in years,” said state Rep. Stephen Stepanek, R-Milford, the chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee.

The bill has its detractors, including Gov. John Lynch, who has promised  before he leaves office next year.

Following the press conference Monday, Jim Rubens, Chairman of the Granite State Coalition Against Expanded Gambling, released a statement saying passage of the bill will "cannibalize" business and create gambling addiction among other social ills.

“Casinos are economic and social black holes," Rubens said. "You don’t solve the problem by making it four times worse by allowing four casinos within easy drive time of almost every town in our state."
