POLL: Should Skits Be Allowed At Fangfest?
Community Council has upheld its decision to drop skits.

Souhegan High School's annual week of school spirit will be missing its student skits this year.
The Community Council recently voted to uphold its decision to eliminate the class skits due to their increasingly negative nature. Fangfest begins next Monday, Feb. 20 and goes until Friday, Feb. 24.
Principal Jon Ingram and school staff addressed the controversy surrounding this decision in a letter to the community.

"The content of these class skits have not always reflected our school’s mission of aspiring to be a community born of respect, trust and courage. In fact, there have been instances of public humiliation, bullying, and harassment."
The school had placed guidelines on the skits to prevent these issues, but this did not solve the problem of inappropriate content. Certain students have also been singled out in jokes during the performances.

Opposing members on the council said that the skits at the end of Fangfest are a huge part of the experience. Many students want to keep them as a part of their school celebration.
What do you think? Should the skits be put back into Fangfest, or should they be replaced by something else? Let us know in our poll and the comments below.
