POLL: Should Souhegan High Have Security Cameras?

Should there be security cameras watching for criminal activity outside of Souhegan High School?

Students on Community Council think so, and the Souhegan Cooperative School Board is considering 

This minimum surveillance would cost about $26,000, with a maximum amount of eight cameras costing about $44,000.

These proposed security measures are a response to acts of on student vehicles over the years.

Cameras would only be installed outside of the school building and could identify those committing crimes, as well as serve as a deterrent to criminal activity.

Those opposed see the addition of security cameras as a change to the school’s culture, according to minutes from a recent Community Council meeting.
