Halloran made national headlines in 2010 when, as a Democrat running for state representative, he joked online, wishing that Sarah Palin and her daughter’s ex-boyfriend had died in a plane crash instead of former U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens, R-AK. He later apologized for the comment and withdrew from the race.
