Salon Aims To Attract Opposite Sex
Salon Prive in Amherst held their first Men's Night on Thursday.

Gentlemen, the ladies arenβt the only ones who deserve some pampering once in awhile.
held their first Menβs Night on Thursday to show male customers that they too can enjoy a salon visit. They offered specials on services for even the manliest man could enjoy, from a 30-minute chair massage to brow grooming and βmenβicures.
Salon manager Lisa Cote said she wanted to make men feel more comfortable about coming into her salon, which can be intimidating for guys who usually seek out a quick haircut.

βA lot of men will go to the in-and-out, Supercuts kind of deal,β said Cote. βWe want to show them how nice it is to get a full haircut that includes a good shampoo and scalp massage. Once they get that, they donβt want to go back to the typical haircut.β
She plans on doing an event like this every month or so to bring in more male customers.

Regular Josh Lessard attended the menβs night to get a chair massage. He frequents the salon for facials pedicures and other services, adding that a salon visit doesnβt have to be βgirly.β
βI just like to take care of myself,β said Lessard.
Rick Bewersdorf had his hairdresser daughter work on his hair before she moved away, and now entrusts his hair to owner and master stylist LeAnn Jameson. He did not seem intimidated by a salon atmosphere as he got his hair cut on Thursday.
βI had a hard time finding someone to cut my hair the way I like it, and I had been to many barber shops and salons,β he said. βLeAnn does my hair exactly the way I like it.β
Master stylist Melanie Kumph said that only about 20 percent of their customers are men, which she would like to see increase. She has had male clients over the years, and said that they appreciate a womanβs attention to detail when it comes to making guys look good.
βI think we just take care of things more,β said Kumph. βWe put that little extra in taking care of them.β
