State Senator, state Representative endorse strategic plan to end breast cancer by decade's close.

State Sen. Andy Sanborn, and state Rep. Laurie Sanborn both of Bedford, both endorsed the National Breast Cancer Coalition’s “Breast Cancer Deadline 2020” last week.

“We are so pleased to publicly and enthusiastically endorse the goal of eradicating breast cancer by 2020,” said Rep. Sanborn. “Sadly, all of us have had someone touch our lives who has been affected by this disease. It’s time to find a cure and put a real deadline in place.”

Sen. Sanborn agreed, “Ending breast cancer is and must remain a huge priority for us. We all need to come together with a sense of urgency, focus and collaboration to be successful, and I am pleased to endorse this effort.”

On Sept. 20, 2010, The National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) launched Breast Cancer Deadline 2020, a strategic plan to end breast cancer by Jan. 1, 2020. The plan focuses on primary prevention (stopping women from getting breast cancer) and understanding and preventing metastasis (the spread of cancer) which is responsible for 90 percent of breast cancer deaths.

The New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition Board of Directors has fully endorsed this effort and asked for the help of legislative leaders like the Sanborns.
